About

TL;DR My name is Art van Scheppingen and have been around in the MySQL ecosystem for a long time. I’m a Senior Database Engineer and currently work for a company called Messagebird.

I started this blog many moons ago when I was still working for Spilgames as a Database Specialist (something between a DBA, IT Architect and Lead Developer) and found MySQL a very interesting piece of technology to blog about.

After Spilgames I joined Severalnines as a Senior Support Engineer. This job basically boiled down to a variety of responsibilities like debugging Severalnines’ ClusterControl installation, MySQL deployments, ProxySQL configurations, writing blog posts, creating video content with the marketing team, presenting at various open source conferences and performing technical sales calls. Let’s say I learned a lot during my time at Severalnines!

After Severalnines I joined a few more companies and managed various installations of MySQL, MariaDB and Percona branded clusters. My ProxySQL knowledge came in handy many times and I’m really grateful for gaining so much experience over the years. I’m currently working as a senior database engineer at Messagebird where I automate our database infrastructure as much as possible.
